Giving Farmers a Voice

Edward Alexander Partridge (1861-1931) was both a farmer and agrarian radical. In 1906 he founded the Grain Growers Grain Company (GGGC) to address issues surrounding the marketing of grain in the Prairie Provinces. However, he felt the press unfairly represented the GGGC and this resulted in the creation of the Grain Grower’s Guide in order to give farmers a voice. He served as editor in chief only to resign after the first issue. He was not supported by his co-founders in his vision to make the farmers publication a militant paper.
